2026 will mark the 19th year of Coastal Baseball.
Coastal Baseball Parks are located on the Beltway 8 feeder in between Telephone and Mykawa.
Effective December 1, 2024 both fields have lights.
USA Tigres Complete Remarkable Run to Win 2026 Coastal Baseball Classic
The 2026 Coastal Baseball Classic brought 10 teams to Houston, Texas, for three days of baseball on January 2, 3 and 4, and when the tournament was finished, the USA Tigres stood alone as champions. Led by Victor Manzano, the Tigres defeated Team Venezuela 8-2 in the championship game to complete a remarkable journey that had actually begun one month earlier in the Coastal Classic Qualifier.
The 2026 Classic featured USA Tigres, Venezuela, USA HTX, Dominican Republic, USA Houston, Mexico, Mexico North, Cuba, Puerto Rico and Nicaragua. With the entire tournament compressed into three days, teams needed more than a strong starting lineup to survive. Pitching depth, roster flexibility and the ability to recover quickly from one game to the next were essential, and the format produced a weekend filled with different styles of baseball.
The Tigres entered the tournament differently than most of the field. Their road to the championship began during the Coastal Classic Qualifier in December. Victor Manzano's club competed against USA HTX, the Austin Weirdos and Texas USA/Thundercats for the opportunity to advance into the January Classic. The Tigres went 2-1 in the qualifier and earned their place in the main tournament.
Less than a month later, they returned to Houston and went from tournament qualifier to tournament champion.
The Tigres quickly established themselves as one of the most complete teams in the Classic. Their offense was capable of producing big innings, but pitching became one of the defining elements of their championship run. The Tigres finished 4-1 while allowing only 10 runs, giving Manzano's club the type of run prevention needed to survive a short tournament where every game carried significant weight.
Offensively, Yobany Millian put together one of the outstanding performances of the 2026 Coastal Baseball Classic. Millian batted .619, collecting 13 hits in 21 at-bats while scoring eight runs. He finished with three doubles and two triples, drove in eight runs and posted a .680 on-base percentage and .952 slugging percentage.
Millian's ability to consistently reach base and produce extra-base hits made him a major factor throughout the weekend. In a tournament where hitters had only a handful of games to make an impact, 13 hits over six games represented an exceptional three-day performance.
The Tigres lineup was much deeper than one hitter. Carson Maxwell provided much of the club's power, hitting two home runs and driving in five runs. Vic Molina hit .375, scored six times and drove in four runs, while Armani Sanchez finished with seven hits and three stolen bases. Dario Montalvo added another dimension to the offense by drawing five walks and driving in three runs.
The depth of the Tigres pitching staff may have been even more impressive.
Welinton Mariano worked nine innings without allowing a run. Thomas Geiger also did not allow a run over seven innings and struck out nine hitters. Luis Medina contributed five scoreless innings, while Fred Villareal added 4 1/3 scoreless innings. Maikel Taylor worked 6 1/3 innings and posted a 1.42 ERA.
Those numbers became increasingly important as the tournament progressed. Playing an entire tournament from Friday through Sunday placed enormous pressure on pitching staffs. Teams could not simply depend on one dominant starter. Every inning mattered, and clubs needed multiple pitchers capable of recording important outs. The Tigres had that depth, and it became one of the biggest reasons they were still playing when the championship game arrived Sunday afternoon.
The strongest challenge came from Team Venezuela.
Venezuela also finished the tournament 4-1 and featured one of the deepest offensive groups in the field. Endry Garcia hit .467 with a home run, two triples and seven RBIs. Yorkfan Nieves batted .556 with 10 hits in 18 at-bats, while Miguel Torres hit .529 and collected five doubles. Alex Ramirez added a home run, two doubles, a triple and six RBIs.
Venezuela's offensive production helped carry the club all the way back to the championship game after winning the Coastal Baseball Classic in 2025. The opportunity to repeat was there, but this time the final opponent was a Tigres club playing its best baseball at exactly the right time.
There were strong performances throughout the rest of the tournament as well. USA HTX finished 4-2 and remained among the busiest and most competitive teams in the field. Dominican Republic and USA Houston each finished 2-2, while Mexico, Mexico North, Cuba, Puerto Rico and Nicaragua completed a diverse 10-team field that gave the Classic its international identity.
That international flavor has become an important part of the Coastal Baseball Classic. Rather than simply matching local clubs against one another, the event brings together teams playing under the identities of different countries and baseball communities. Players representing Venezuela, Cuba, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic shared the same Houston fields with several United States-based teams during the three-day event.
The schedule created constant pressure. Opening games were played Friday, January 2, followed by a full Saturday schedule on January 3. By Sunday morning, January 4, the tournament had reached its decisive stage. Games began at 9:00 AM, another round followed at noon and the championship was scheduled for 3:00 PM.
After all of the games required to reach that point, USA Tigres and Venezuela emerged as the final two teams.
The championship matchup provided an appropriate conclusion to the weekend. Both teams finished 4-1, both possessed some of the tournament's best offensive performers, and both had demonstrated enough pitching depth to survive the demanding schedule.
For Venezuela, the championship represented an opportunity to win the Coastal Baseball Classic for a second consecutive year. For the Tigres, it represented the final step in a journey that had started simply with trying to qualify for the tournament.
The Tigres made sure their story ended with a championship.
Victor Manzano's club defeated Venezuela 8-2 in the final, completing the journey from December qualifier to January champion. After battling through the qualifier just to earn a place in the field, the Tigres had beaten the defending champions with the tournament title on the line.
The final result also reflected how well the Tigres had performed throughout the weekend. They had received elite production at the top of their offensive statistics, power from the middle of the lineup and outstanding innings from several different pitchers. When one player was not carrying the team, another was contributing.
That balance separated the Tigres from the field.
Yobany Millian's .619 batting average and 13 hits highlighted the offense. Carson Maxwell supplied home-run power. Vic Molina and Armani Sanchez consistently reached base and scored runs. Welinton Mariano, Thomas Geiger, Luis Medina and Fred Villareal combined for long stretches of scoreless baseball, while Maikel Taylor provided another quality arm for a staff that allowed only 10 runs during the tournament.
The championship also completed an unusual two-event journey for Victor Manzano and the Tigres. In December, they were competing simply for the right to participate in the Coastal Baseball Classic. They went 2-1 in the qualifier and advanced. In January, they took advantage of that opportunity and went all the way to the championship.
The 2026 Coastal Baseball Classic ultimately featured 10 teams, dozens of players and three consecutive days of baseball in Houston. It produced outstanding individual performances, international matchups and a championship game between two of the strongest clubs in the tournament.
But the lasting story of the 2026 Classic belongs to the Tigres.
They entered through the qualifier. They survived the three-day tournament format. They received outstanding performances from both their lineup and pitching staff. And when they finally faced defending champion Venezuela with the tournament championship at stake, they delivered an 8-2 victory.
From qualifying in December to celebrating in January, Victor Manzano and the USA Tigres completed the entire journey.
